As a partner in the Charter for Compassion, Odyssey Networks is collecting stories of compassion wherever we travel. While in Seattle for that city's landmark signing of the Charter, ON asked James O'Dea for a memory of compassion in his life. He is co-director of The Social Healing Project funded by the Kalliopeia Foundation, immediate past president and member of the extended faculty of The Institute of Noetic Sciences, former executive director of The Seva Foundation, and was, for ten years, director of the Washington office of Amnesty International

Situated at the crossroads of art, ethics, faith, and conscience, the blog continues the Center's mission to present artists, writers, and thinkers who, in their lives and works, partake of the sacred, bear witness to suffering, and manifest beauty, dignity, and charity.

Timothy, I've just read your most recent post and realize, gratefully and humbly, how much there is for us to do. I'm going to start at the beginning of your blog and read forward to see if I can catch up. Meanwhile, it's a beautiful piece of work, all of it, and I'm very glad you're there.
Welcome, Melissa. Good to see you here. The work is just beginning -- I'm trying to catch up too. Having folks like yourself and others along is a pleasure and a boon.
